HRT have spent over 90 years building a solid reputation in the property market across South Wales. Having worked with HRT for many years, we approached them about revisiting their brand design to inject some energy into it. Despite the old brand holding heritage, the logo was looking a little tired and old fashioned. In addition, there was a lot of misuse of the branding across different marketing items. We wanted to really give this brand a new life that would stand with them for another 90 years. After all, HRT are a long standing brand.

Creating a brand identity
To soften their corporate visuals, we used a new brand typeface, made to look just like the staffs own hand writing. Each item of marketing included varying amounts of this personalised branding. The result gives the impression one of the agents has hand written over the top of images and documents themselves. The purpose of this was to truly sign off as personal property people.Brand design is about tone of voice and messaging. That is why we carefully selected real people for the new brand imagery, injecting the emotive feelings that naturally occur when choosing a new home. We wanted clients to actually picture themselves in their new homes, making the property search that much more exciting with HRT.

Say it right
As well as injecting a personalised handwriting font, we also created bespoke hand drawn assets that could be used across their marketing designs and social media. Arrows, frames and circles highlight special information, key selling points to properties and give the audience more to interact with. These brand assets helped to make HRT’s plain social media account much more engaging and laid the ground work for scroll stopping social media posts. The line work was made to reflect the pressure points of a pen, making them that much more realistic with varying degrees of thickness on each symbol. Used across their brand, these assets really showcase the personal but professional brand ethos that HRT have to offer.
A brand that highlights what really matters
Those hand written items were then used to highlight key drivers on each piece of branded marketing. All of the headlines for any of the HRT marketing have been carefully considered and designed to be emotive by our designers and copywriters. This allows every design to have an emotive meaning, connecting with their audience that much more. Again, this brand tone of voice is really helping to proclaim Herbert R Thomas’ brand ethos – personal property people.
Covering every base
Seeing that HRT have years and years of heritage behind them, it was only natural that their marketing was very stuck in its ways. Although they had social media accounts, the brand identity was not uniformed or recognisable. Something you would see on their signage would not reflect that of their social media account. We worked with HRT to create engaging social media content, that showcased their work in their local communities, their properties and also some personal introductions to their staff. We wanted to make sure that HRT was not only being seen in print, but their brand was being seen in all of its glory online. This included not only social media designs, but digital Rightmove banner graphics and a revised website design. As a result their brand became much more unified and recognisable.
Take a look at this new personalised style. These posts are real scroll stoppers, with a new energy that synergises with their brand identity. Now HRT are seen across all medias in the same professional but personal way. The emotive and expressive imagery combines with the brand assets to really create a personalised estate agent brand that stands out amongst competitors. A mix of image based and graphical based posts ensure that the social media accounts never get stagnant. Therefore their content remains fresh every month.
