Creating bilingual designs can have its struggles, but something we often wish was easier is finding the perfect Welsh-friendly typeface.
As Welsh agencies will often know, options are often limited when it comes to searching for a Welsh compatible font for your bilingual marketing. To make things a little easier for everyone, we’ve put together a few of our favourite typefaces that are the stuff of bilingual dreams! And yes, they all include the infamous ‘ŵ’.
Museo Sans
Web + Print, Typekit, Commercially Licensed
Museo Sans (not to be confused with its more ornate sibling, Museo) is a great Welsh-friendly typeface that strikes the balance between simple and unique. At Martin Hopkins, Museo Sans is often our go-to for both print and web projects with its clean and modern look.
For a case study featuring Museo Sans, look no further than our newest bilingual project: Melo Cymru.

Metronic Slab
Web + Print, Typekit, Commercially Licensed
For when a standard sans serif won’t do, Metronic is ideal for adding a more ‘industrial’ look to your design. We love how unique this Welsh-friendly typeface is and is one of our stand-out typefaces. It’s also easily accessible and available for download from Adobe Typekit!

Garamond Premier
Web + Print, Typekit, Commercially Licensed
An all-round great Welsh-friendly serif typeface and an ideal alternative to Times New Roman. Garamond may feel dated to some, but its classic design is easy on the eye, both in print and on screen. First created in the sixteenth century by Claude Garamond, it has since been adapted into many variations, including this one from Adobe.

Rollerscript
Web + Print, Typekit, Commercially Licensed
And if you need that warm hand-written feeling – Rollerscript is a great option for a script that also happens to be a Welsh-friendly typeface. When used wisely and in the right design context, this hand-written typeface can create a much desired personalisation, even in the digital environment.
